I am planning on buying an AR relatively soon. I want to be able to change uppers between .223 for coyote and prairie dogs and then step up to a larger heavier caliber for wild hogs. Is this even possible? Thanks for the help!
Lowers are the same, mags between 223/556 and other calibers like 6.5, 6.8, etc. are different.
I like the OP's style-have one lower for multiple uppers. My only suggestion is to mark the upper and magazines in such a way that the user can identify and match the ammunition to the upper at a glance.

6.5 Creedmoor will NOT work on AR 15 platform. It requires a 308 or AR10 platform.
As stated above there's a plethora of calibers that will fit the standard lower, you will need to use different mags but the improvements over 223 are substantial. If you are looking for a tack driving 6.5 Grendel or one of its variants, look no further than Scott at Specialized dynamics, a Hide sponsor and even if you don't buy from him, he's a wealth of knowledge.
