Just assembled an AR10 in 6xc to match my bolt gun. some specs to start things off:
Aero M5E1 matched upper/lower
Custom McGowen barrel 22" 7twist, Bolt chambered/matched to barrel
Seekins adjustable gas block, rifle length
KAK Industries 308 BCG
Armaspec Stealth recoil spring Heavy/308 version
Magpul 20 and 10rnd mags
Onto the Issues:
1. Feeding
Immediately after assembly, I started testing feeding some test rounds. The rounds basically pass directly over the feed ramps of the barrel extension, and go crashing into the barrel just under the chamber. If let the BCG slam home under full spring pressure, it will chamber the round, but upon removal, the tip of the bullet is already mangled. I'm guessing this will cause less-than favorable results down range.
2. Primer Ignition
Took the assembled rifle out to the range this weekend for first test firing. Slammed home the first round, pulled the trigger, and nothing. Primer was not even touched. Confirmed BCG is fully seated using fwd assist...still no bang. Took the BCG out and compared to a friends 308 bcg, looks like my firing pin doesn't stick out far enough. Compared both pins, look to be same length. Compared bolt lengths (not carrier), and my bolt looked much longer. Filed the back of the bolt slightly to let the firing pin stick out more, and that seemed to ignite primers 80% of the time. Issue remains is that the primer looks to be flowing back over the firing pin like an 'outey' belly button. Sorry for the terrible analogy.
Let me know if anyone has any suggestions on my above issues. Thanks in advance!
