I have a simple question, probably stupid, but since I have read so much about large frame gas guns not being parts compatible, I thought I would ask first.

I have an Armalite 308 and I just wanted to order some spare parts for the bcg in case of wear or loss during cleaning (cam pins, FP spring, gas rings, cotter pin). I called up armalite and they referred me to everygunpart.com, maybe its me but I find their site or search function bites, so I reached out to them and was told nothing is sold individually just in their field parts spare kit for $65 - so are any of these parts actually proprietary? Am I safe ordering them from anyone else?

TIA

Some of those parts are definitely proprietary to ArmaLite. You might be able to find the repair kit elsewhere for $5 - $10 less, but things have changed since they moved to Texas and teamed up with everygunpart.

Armalite does use quite a few proprietary parts.. for sure the FP , FP spring, and if memory serves me, even the complete BCG has subtle dimensional differences compared to a DPMS pattern BCG

If I were you, I'd order ( and assuming you have a AR10 A ) the ..

And ...

May as well order the rifle length gas tube as well ( If you have a rifle length gas system. ) It is longer then a DPMS pattern rifle length gas tube. )

And I am a spare parts whore... I would go so far as to order 2ea.... nothing would piss me off more, than to not be able to have a functioning firearm, because I failed to buy parts when they were available.

Peace of mind is worth the money.
Remember, Washington State passed a law banning spare parts... it could happen else where.

Just my 2 cents.
