I've been working up loads in my LWRC SPR and found that I got to 25.2gr H335 underneath 77SMKs before I hit pressure signs. Now, 25.2gr of H335 is well exceeding recommended pressure, but the Hornady manual is really conservative in my opinion. I'm using a 16" barrel. I'm probably going to work from 24.2gr up to 25.0gr and see if there's a decent accuracy node in there. Would anyone mind giving me an idea of what kind of velocity and pressure I'm probably seeing at 24.5gr of H335? I'm just wanting a ballpark idea before I get into the more precise load development. Thanks.

Re: Assistance with Quickload .223

Quickload is great as far as a reference. However when you get it make sure you measure your fired case capacities. Also make sure you re enter the case dimensions to get corrected weighting factors (it is a QL thing) for example the stock value for the .223 is WAY off.

As far as the loads you are mentioning you are at the higher end. Generally speaking the service rifle shooters use around 24-24.5gr of almost anything (4895, Varget, etc.)

Good to know. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't at 125% pressure or something crazy. Frankly I'm not one to chase after high velocities anyway. For me, accuracy > speed. Thanks for your help.
