I am new to the forum but read some things already that indicated there might be people that can help me. I own an ATN Thor 4 384-1.25-5x thermal and have been having a lot of fun with it. I’ve never owned a night vision scope but hear target ID could be much better than using thermal. I found a used ATN X-sight HD 5-18 night vision scope and bought it. The guy included an extra lens and said the x-sight could be turned into thermal by installing it. The lens looks exactly like the lens on my Thor 4 384.
I’ve included pictures of the ATN x-sight scope and the lens. The thread size of the lens is right at 60mm. So is it possible to install that lens on the x-sight scope and use it as a thermal? I haven’t tried to see if it will even fit and wanted to check before I did anything like that. It just seems like the technology inside the scope should be different for thermal, but I have no clue.
If it won’t work like that, I guess I could just keep it as a backup lens for my Thor 4. Which leads me to another question. If I wanted a 4.5-18x lens for my Thor 4, is at as simple as buying that lens and switching it out? Are there firmware, etc. Type changes that would have to be done?
