Gunsmithing Attaching a Picatinny Rail to Stock Forend

I want to attach an Accushot BT49 2" pictanniy rail to a Manners MCS-T stock in order to provide an attachment point for an Atlas bipod. The forend of the stock is slightly convex but it does not match the concavity of the rail. I am thinking that I need to either use something as a shim for the rail or use bedding compound to make the rail contour match that of the stock. Am I barking up the right tree? I would appreciate any advice if anyone has done this before. Thanks.

Or just goober the gap up with epoxy to bed the Atlas rail, whatever. The bipod mount's pretty low-duty unless you're real hard on your 'precision rifle.'

I think I will go with a non-metal epoxy since all I am really doing is making a shim. Plus, it will give me some flexibility should there be leakage onto the stock. Thanks to 'mcfred' for the inspiration.
