A buddy and I just finished up our first year in PRS. He just in the last couple months put together his wife and rifle and I’m in the process of putting mine one together. The guns is in 6 Dasher. It’s a Origin action in a bravo stock. I originally ordered a prefit in a proof comp contour barrel, not really paying attention to the weight. I then ordered another barrel in a med Palma contour. Being it’s a Christmas gift, I haven’t put it in her hands yet. Was just wondering if there was a sweet spot as far as weight most woman try to stay around. Just action, stock and comp contour barrel is running 12.4 lbs. she’s going to run a kahles 624 and I figured glass and bipod would probably add another few. Any insight would be appreciated, tks.

Would really come down to what your wife is comfortable with. You have both barrels so give it to her and let he get the feel with both and what is good for her. There is no set rule on weight. The cartridge with a brake will have little to no recoil anyway so see what she likes.

I’ll let her decide what she thinks, just was wondering if any woman, or guy knew what their wives/significant others felt comfortable weight wise. My rifle weight right at 21 lbs. just hearing other shooter thru out matches, a lot like their rifles around the 20lbs mark

Not really a set rule as I like mine in the 16-18 range. I see some women with straight tubed barrels shooting matches. Things must weight 23-25 pounds. You are in the right ballpark.

My wife did not enjoy shooting my 28” barreled 20# dasher , she did not complain about the weight as much as the length. I chopped the barrel to 22” and it’s around 17 # scoped now and much easier for her to move around with.
It’s in a chassis so I can adjust the weight also

Man…. I don’t think I’d like to swing around a 28” either lol. I’d imagine she’ll probably enjoy the small profile. I guess if she had the time to shoot a few matches and likes it, I have my smith chamber her something in a length she likes. What kind of speed are you getting out of the 22”?

Apples to oranges but the wifes PRS 22 rig is right at 10# and balances on the center of the mag well with an 18" barrel. We ran 12 stages in a day at one match and the last 3 it was reallly starting fo get heavy for her. I know you need the weight and she does too. Frustrated by misses or frustrated by weight may be a toss up.
