For two years, AI has been showing off the new multi-caliber AX50... or as I like to call it, the AX50MC. At Shot 2017, they said it would ship later in the year and then Mile High has had to make excuses over and over why it hasn't shipped yet. Well, I think at this SHOT show, AI will announce that they will finally be shipping this year. It is supposed to support 50BMG, 416 Barret, 375 & 408 Cheytac. I wanted to buy one of these since 2017 for ELR. The wait was excruciating and then David Tubb started racking up ELR wins with his new Adaptive Target Rifle so I bought one of those. I intend on doing ELR with his rifle and his 37XC load. Although, I do have a AX338MC that I love (That trigger!) and I still might buy an AX50MC. I live in CA so the 50BMG is a no go for me, I would need a different shipping caliber and the only one I'd consider is the 416 Barrett based on some of the results of King of Two Miles. Now, I'm thinking that in AI's mind for US consumers (non-LE/Mil) the primary role for such a rifle would be ELR. So in that vein it would be fantastic if there ever was support for the new 33XC and the 37XC. All AI would need to do is provide a Magnum bolt face. The barrel would be easy to spin up and there is no need for a magazine since the round was always intended to be single fed. The question's I'd like asked of the booth crew at Mile High or AI are:
1. Is the AX50MC shipping with any calibers other than 50BMG on the release date?
2. If 50BMG is the only shipping caliber, when is the estimated shipping date for any of the others, 416 Barrett in particular.
3. Is AI or would AI consider offering a Magnum bolt face for the AX50MC?
