This movie looks like it is going to be a great watch! Anyone else pumped for it?

And here is the top gear tribute to Senna, if you don't know who Senna is:

Re: Ayrton Senna Movie

There's a James Hunt movie in the works, too. To me, "The Shunt" Hunt was infinitely more interesting...

...not to mention inspirational.

Re: Ayrton Senna Movie

For me, F1 was about Jim Clark and Stirling Moss, Von Tripps, Jack Brabham, et. al. Richie Ginther's Cousin was a Marine in my unit.

That was when margins were broader, and there was at least some vague similarity between what ran on the track, and what ran on the road.

These days it seems to me that it could all be very slickly transferred into cyberspace, and very little would be lost. For me, that was all lost already over the intervening decades.

It's become completely alien to what I once embraced as F1.

Re: Ayrton Senna Movie

I watched "Senna" last night. It was very matter-of-fact, very unflinching and somewhat sympathetic of Senna in his war with Prost. It has a lot of great Monaco footage. And some pretty gruesome footage of Sandro Nannini's 1990 crash in Japan, as well as Roland Ratzenberger's fatal crash the day before Senna's.

If you're an F1 fan, it definitely is a "must have" for your DVD collection, but only if you already have copies of "The Speed Merchants", "Grand Prix" and "LeMans."

But I still liken Senna to Ty Cobb. Or Dale Earnhardt.

Re: Ayrton Senna Movie

I always liked Alain Prost. He was a class act. One of the first books I ever read cover to cover and liked was "Stainless Steel Carrot" back in the early 70's. I was really into F1 even though I lived in the Off road racing capitol of the world at the time. Made me want to be a mechanic.

Excellent, thanks for sharing.
