Ive been looking at the m16 extractor for the Remmy. Does anyone have any info on fitting these or where can I get a good look at the process. Also can they be got for all calibres.

Unless it's a magnum with a failed riveted extractor leave the factory extractor alone.

If you have a Magnum cartridge with a failed extractor, or a WSM of any type, get the M16 style, it's a captured extractor and much stronger then the Sako.

Howa 1500's and Weatherby Vanguards come with the M16 style extractor already built in. Those extractors have never failed me. I've had 3 new straight-from-the-factory Remington extractors fail. Now, I replace those from the start.

I'm so glad to have a Winchester. Y'all can be jealous now.

I love HateCA hahaha no doubt how he feels about the extractor issues on about 10 of these posts now. I agree with him that the factory extractor is good, but I also like the sako's AND the M-16's. The M16's are great for the magnum cases. They offer much greater leverage than the sakos and are easily replaced in the field, without tools.

Yeah because I've had more complaints over the years from guys not liking the Sako, and to a small degree the M16 type (not been around as long) installed in Remington bolts. Way more complaints then factory extractor failures. But hey it's not my money or bolt.

Do you do installs on m16 extractors?

Sure don't

If you plan on having this done be sure to find out whose they are going to install. Some of them require a larger bolt nose counter bore (.785 as opposed to standard .705) in the barrel to clear the extractor when it goes to snap over the case rim. This would be a problem with a barrel that's already installed.
