I have been looking to start my build list up for a new bolt gun and have been looking at the Badger M2008 action. Do any of you guys have some experience with this action or should I be looking at something else. Also for those of you that have had custom builds, is it a good way to go over an AI AE MKIII? The calibers of choice is either 260 or 308. Also will the M2008 action fit in an AICS 2.0?

Re: Badger M2008 Action

I have three M2008 builds. They are in 6.5CM, 7MM-08, and 308. They make a great custom build. The action is, as they say now, robust. All three guns shoot extremely well so I know the action is holding up its end of the deal. The AICS can be modified for the M2008 and it isn't a big deal to do. To me, the M2008 belongs in an AICS. I think they just look better there.
I have owned an AI AE MKII but have not even had the opp to handle the MKIII so I can't advise there. I own two AIAW rifles and just got a Krieger 260 barrel for one of them. They are top notch gear and would be my overall AI recommendation.
Now, here is another option. Contact Alex at EuroOptic and talk to him about the TRG22. He has them available in 260 and 308, folder or non and even desert camo I believe. The TRG22 is an awesome rifle for the $$.
Sorry for the winded reply.

Re: Badger M2008 Action

You can't go wrong with them! I have several and they are my go-to rifles. They are slick as snot and the 60* bolt throw is great. They are beefy, but lets face it, most long range rifles aren't exactly light.

shoot4fun thanks for the info. This will be my first big money bolt gun. I am really leaning towards the AE. I looked at the TRG and it is a nice piece. There is something about that beefy Badger bolt that makes me want to have one built though.
