Been using FTE for about a year with really good results. I just noticed that when you are in trajectory mode there are two places to specify which drag model to use. The first time is under "projectile characteristics" and is listed as "Native Drag Model". It asks again 3 spaces down, just below MV and Chrono distance as "Use Drag Model".

Anyone know why twice and what the proper response is?

Re: Ballistic FTE question about drag model

Native drag model is the drag model that is used by let's say for instance Sierra 175 SMK round uses g1 .496. Now under the use drag model it's what you want to use as a drag model. I leave mine the same g1 unless I run Berger bullets.

Re: Ballistic FTE question about drag model

Yup .............. But again the use drag model should match the bullet description. Play with it and see how it effects the out come in drop.

If you are shooting those 175 SMK's beyond 600 yards, you should use the G7 BC of .243. It is more accurate than the G1 for a boattail bullet.
