I am looking for recommendations on a hunting scope with a reticle along the lines of the Zeiss Rapid reticle. I was planning on getting a Conquest 4-14x15 with the Rapid 1000, but have heard the POI moves when the magnification is moved. Also, I am not sure if the reticle will be clear enough in low light, as it looks a bit fine.

Maybe I need to consider FFP and reticle illumination to solve my concerns. I like the Horus style "christmas tree" reticle with holdover points, and also windage hold off dots, but didnt really want to get into that price range if I can avoid it. I'm not looking for a ranging reticle, just something with holdover lines to 600 plus yards.

Anyone have a recommendation for a scope that would work along these lines?

Re: Ballistic reticle scope for hunting

You could check out some of the Bushnell Elite scopes from SWFA or another hide vendor with the GAP G2 reticle. They have some midrange priced scopes with good reticles. They have the high end Elite Tactical versions called the G2DMR with the GAP G2 reticle and the Horus version is called the HDMR. They have FFP but I don't think any of them have illumination yet.

Nightforce has some illuminated reticles with holdovers that would be good for huntng. I know you can get some of their scopes with FFP. At the lower end, Burris has the ballistic plex and I know you can get the XTR line with illumination but they don't offer FFP
