I've searched and not been able to find much. I'm looking at a 20" Rem 700 in .223 that has a medium weight threaded barrel. It measures roughly .750" at the muzzle.

I'm just wondering if this barrel is going to be thick enough to handle more than 4-5 shots without changing POI?

.750 seems like enough with an AR15 that has a tapered profile so I would think it would be enough for this? Am I wrong?

Most think heat will cause a POI change. It might in a factory barrel.
In a properly stress relieved barrel, the POI won't change for quite a few rounds.
I know of one test, done by someone most here know and trust.
He ran 100 rounds down a custom after market barrell and was hot, no POI change.

I have an RPR in .308. It too has a 20” tapered barrel that measures .750” at the muzzle. Even that thing can get hot enough to cook an egg on without a POI shift (I try not to make a habit of this)
