I know how most of you guys are gonna feel about it, and I know especially with heavy contour barrels, results may be negligible, but have any of you guys ever seen positive results from the Limbsaver Barrel De-resonators? Just ordered one. I don't think it would hurt anything. I've read that moving weights up and down barrels can improve accuracy if you find the "sweet spot." I also don't care that it looks like a doughnut shroom.

I got one free as a gift so I figured I would try it. I used it on a Savage Axis in .308 - which is a ok rifle for what it is. I used it as a beater hunter in some tough terrain. The biggest improvement in the three round group size on the Axis came from a Rifle Basix trigger at 3 lbs. But quick three shot groups as in working the bolt and firing again for a total three rather quick rounds were opened. I could get two within an inch and the third about 2 inches @ 100 yards. But.....with the resonator it brought the goup to 1.75 as the norm. I sold it with the resonator on it and told the guy to keep it. So far it still groups well for him.

For those who do not reload, sometimes a bit of upward pressure at the forend can tighten groups vs a completely free floated bbl. Some 1/16 corking material from autozone cut to shape, with the correct torque on the action screws can provide that pressure (5 lbs) and it is completely out of sight.

Pressure bedding the fore end is not a new concept, nor is corking. The best solution is to have a high end barrel installed from the get go, but that is not always the cheapest route to go.

I though that this:

Was just the opposite of this:

Both look great on a Savage, and probably have the same effect.

I got one to test it out. It doesn't look completely stupid on my rifle.

I know for free floated barrels it's supposed to work closer to the end of the barrel, but I'm going to start it closer to the stock and work my way out.
