barrel length question

I'm getting a couple guns threaded for a suppressor. One .223 and a .308. They both have 24" barrels and will be used for hunting and paper punching out to 600-800 yards. I'm thinking about cutting them down to 20 inches to improve handling on the hunting side of things.

Is this a good or bad idea? Any help/advice is appreciated.

Re: barrel length question

Check your local laws. Hunting with a suppressor is illegal in most states and I dont think cuttin 4" off each one and recrowning it worth it. If your getting good accuracy out of them as is, I'd leave it alone. Just my .02.

Re: barrel length question

Keep the barrel as long as possible, also, x2 on the state laws, I know is SD its becoming possible to own suppressors without any license, but idk about hunting.
