Re: Barrel Life and The Cost of Shooting

If you never shoot you will never need a new tube. If you are going to count that in you might as well count in your vehicle and clothing, including footwear and everything else a person needs to shoot. The math get the cost per shot on your action, stock, scope, and springs really sucks.

Re: Barrel Life and The Cost of Shooting

People always talk about barrel life, but they dont take into account how much the ammo they shot to wear out the barrel cost. I figure by the time need to set back/rebarrel, I'll have spent over $3000 in ammo. So the cost of a barrel and the work to have it done is small compared to the cost of the ammo to shoot it out.

I just thought it was interesting. If I was worried about the cost of a barrel or ammo I wouldn’t have bought a DTA .338
