New to the Creedmoor. Mine has a heavy Palma Benchmark barrel on a 700 trued action. If I keep my loads sane and don't overheat it, and manage good cleaning practices what kind of barrel life can I expect before accuracy degrades? Does it compare to the .308? Less or the same?
I'm sure some of you have been down this road more than once.

Barrel life is quite relevant to those that can't change barrels at home. But I suppose if I were shooting 6.5cm I would buy a rifle that I could change barrels at home.
HAHA! Both of my 6.5 bolt guns are quick change barrels. Didn't do that because of barrel life, it just worked out that way. Except for the Spartan Rifles that is on its way...

I'm using an SSG 3000, and it's a joke to replace the barrel. Benchmark makes drop in barrels, and I order them two at a time. Right now I've got the original 308 barrel, two fluted 308 barrels, and two 65CM barrels.

The 65CM sighted in at 100 meters puts bullets in the same hole or fully touching each other. If I'm not taking my time, it's a grouping the size of a quarter.

Frankly, if you can find an SSG 3000 with a McMillian (sp?) stock, it's a great item for anyone that wants a tac driver. I'm sure that are slightly better firearms, my TRG-42/300WM is a little better overall... but it was massively more expensive and not user serviceable for barrel replacements.

Come to think of it... I've heard alot of good things about the out of box accuracy of the Ruger Precision Rifle; you appear to need a barrel vice and a set of go/no go gauges to swap the barrel.
