I'm about to pull the trigger on a Brux pre fit Savage barrel. The rifle is a stock model 10 fcp. After I recieve my barrel I was going to get one of SSS recoil lugs and have the stock pilliar bedded with a skim scote too. I can have this work done localy. Would I see any further benefit of sending off the rifle for a true and time job? Thanks much for any help.

Most modern manufacturing techniques have tollerances. Some parts are cut on the low side and others on the high side. The chances that you got a rifle that have "Matched" parts by accident are about 25:1 If you want a more accurate rifle have it trued. If you shoot it and it's shooting pretty good, and you want to leave it alone, Then leave it alone.
The money and the results are yours alone.

Time and True on a Savage has very little to do with improving accuracy. More than anything else it improves the smoothness of function.
Just swap the barrel and lug. That's where you'll see your most improvement. Bedding the action will also help bring those fliers into the group.
But if you want to reduce your bolt lift and overall smoothness of the action, send it for a T&T. But don't expect to see dramatic changes in your groups sizes.

If you want to really see more precision from any rifle, look at the chamber. A short oal chamber will do more for your accuracy efforts than any other variable besides well tuned ammunition.
A chamber that is about .0005" over Go-Gauge (saami minimum spec) is excellent. Maybe go .001" over if you are worried about dirt or debris in your chamber.

As long as you control shoulder set back what difference does it make if it is .0005 or .005" longer than minimum spec? Maybe you would see a little difference(and I said maybe) in virgin brass and fireformed brass.
