barrel twist

Re: barrel twist

Measure the lenght of the bullet

Devide that lenght by cal

Divide the results into 150

Multiply that result by the cal.

Equals the twist required.

Re: barrel twist

So my Rock 5R 1-11.27 should be a good middle of the road twist for more bullet weights?

Re: barrel twist

1:12 will accurately shoot 155-175gr projectiles. That is from experience.

1:12 is preferred for 168gr. according to the helpful folks at Pac-nor (where I will be buying my next blank).

Decide WHAT weight bullet will do what you want, then call your barrel manufacturer and ask them what rifling style and twist rate to use for that projectile.

Or just call a custom riflesmith and tell him what you want to shoot and have him spec it out for you.
