Barrett -338LM 20" Barrel with a 1:9.35 ?

My recently purchased Barrett M98B CQB with a 20" barrel has a 1:9.35 twist , I understand that the 300gr projectiles will stabilise better with the faster twist & being 7 inches shorter than the new standard 98B model, it would make sense for Barrett to go for something faster , but could someone enlighten me on what the .35 actually represents? & does anyone know if the 1:9.35 is something that they are moving towards now in 338LM as their new 27" barrel seems to have the same twist ...

Cheers

I would have to agree with Dave on that.my question would be what's the purpose of going faster , either why it's wallet buster an a awesome round.but it sounds like you want a long range rifle to shoot a short distance, at all the mentioned twist it's still going to destroy something ,what's a few seconds faster mean.

I'm shooting my 338LM at ranges of over 500 metres to 1200 metres and these big pigs here are tough bastards and will not drop with a 308 if the shot is slightly off or they are caked in some mud .. I have seen lesser calibre's do little damage at 500 metres and beyond ( even bounce off ) .
