Likes:
The AR style takedown for a bolt action
The ease of takedown/trigger group removal/bolt etc
The look and feel, comfort/recoil etc.

Dislikes:
The mag
The monopod
Some minor stoning on the trigger, very easy, see above but
? needed on a 4k rifle

Thoughts:
Price, seems about right, probably will hold good value, maybe orphan with MRAD coming out. While some reports may be that the MRAD will be very accurate, I doubt i can shoot the more expensive MRAD better (not shootin a 22-250 here.) I expect to be able to improve with handloads. The first box of Horaday was pretty good for a rifle with a touch of recoil, shot off a bipoid with a monopod (that doesn't help me much.) The MRAD, from what I have heard???, may be 'switchable' to other calibers? I guess that is nice, I have no need for this ATM, I wanted a 338. I got plenty of other calibers already

Range report
Very first ammo through rifle, 2 boxes of HSM ammo 250g bought off member here,
OAL=3.593
Brass length=2.516

100yrd, barely holding 1.5 MOA
200yrd, 1MOA, overall seemed to be better at a longer distance

Rifle was new to me but the ammo was not great, felt the bullets were 'unstable'

Box of Factory Hornady, 20rds, 100 yrd (my 3rd box of ammo through the rifle)

OAL=3.605
Brass length=2.517

all sub 0.75MOA,
best 5 shot=0.637 (even better if you let me drop that one at 11:00!)
best 3 shot=0.244

Re: Barrett 98B review

Welcome to the site plastikosmd

Good review,
You may want to try sending some 300 grain Lapua Scenars down the tube and see how they compare as far as grouping.
They tend to like the 27”

Good Luck

Re: Barrett 98B review

Thank you.

May be a bit before I can try the 300's, I am sitting on several hundred Lapua HPBT and FMJBT, (also purchased from a member here.) I will see which the rifle prefers and toss the others up for someone else to play with. As far as powder, from what I have seen here, RL25 seems like a good one to try, that or H1000. I dont have either so I will see what I can come across.
