Barrett Jackson 19

I've casually watched it over the years as I've always enjoyed turning wrenches and dabbled in classic muscle car resto here and there, but admittedly haven't given the BJ auction much attention the last couple years as in my opinion it's gone more like art auctions than anything. The cars bought there are far more considered investment and collector pieces rather than machines to be used. While that may be great news for those in the restoration industry, of which I greatly support, doing a resto that would ever raise an eyebrow at an auction like BJ as far out of reach for us home mechanics who work regular jobs as building a car for NASCAR is. Neat to see some of those old beasts still running, just a shame to know virtually none of them will see a public highway or start a conversation at the local fuel station.

While I'm sure some will be garage queens I'll bet others will drive them out for the cars & coffee kinda deals I see around here.
Couldn't be more true about the nascar analogy.
The builders have come a long ways on the custom/restomods.

^ there’s a bad joke there.... you ought to edit it before some else see’s it.

Reggie lost a warehouse of cars to a fire about 30 years ago. Broke a gear head’s heart I tell ya... he has had a fetish for the L79 Nova’s and the cool Corvettes. As opposed to the run of the mill type.

I figured someone would try that route.
Not worried.
Funny thing as I have a 67 L-79ish myself.
No corvettes yet...
A great project 55 nomad as well. May be for sale. Restomod in progress

I spend a fair amount of time in and around Scottsdale and see some surprising cars out on the road with us lowly commoners, last year a mid sixties Ferrari Dino was tailgating my truck (1/2 car length behind me at 50mph), a correct replacement bonnet cost more than my house.

Cool stuff... I like them ole chebby’s!

I’ve slowly gotten rid of my muscle cars and corvette, parts and junk. Down to little of it left... and some motorcycles.

They have a mini carshow outside in the valet parking.
Last time I was there the lot was worth a luxury retirement.

Many years ago some asshole was tailgating me in typ atl traffic. I delay my stop and jam the breaks (all he'd get would be a 2 5/16 ball to the hood). Dipshit gets stopped, throws up his hand and gets his middle finger about half extended when 'bam', fucking rear ended. Lol.

My dad goes to the auction every year. If he bought anything, it will be pretty sporty at my parents house the next few days.
