I recently purchased a TRG22 in .308 this month. I found a great deal on a NF 12-42x56 NXS with NP-R2. It is a little higher power than I was looking for but it was a good deal. I am just getting into LR shooting but want to do things right the first time. I have access to a very close range with a 400 yard max as of now. And also a 1k range with a little driving. Starting out, I am going to stick with 400 but would like the ability to reach 1k without issues(aside from my skill level). I am looking for opinions on best base/rings setup for my application. The NF has 45Moa of adjustment. My TRG came with a 0 MOA badger base. Is that going to be enough if reaching out to 1k?

No, not with a 100 yd zero you can't.....Nice rifle that Sako.... Nice scope that Nightforce...Wrong pairing on a 0 MOA base.

You could try a 300 yds zero, or maybe a 20 MOA base. But with only 45 MOA on tap, it could be a problem to get a zero @ 100 yds.

Best of Luck,

Bob

You want to do it right the first time then don't buy that scope. Get a 3.5-15 or 5.5-22. You don't need all that power and the low amount of MOA won't get you to 1000. You might get close with a 10 or 15 MOA base but depending on how much windage you need to use to zero you might not have enough elevation.

Look in the for sale section here and you can find a scope better suited for your needs.
