There is a whole plethora of information about rings heights, usually from the manufacturers, but a dearth of information about base heights.

Since the distance your scope's bell is above the barrel is a function of both ring height and base height, I thought it might be useful if we could compile a list of base heights.

From a standardization viewpoint please measure from bottom of the base to the top of the Picatinney rail (not the grove), both front and rear.

Here my contribution: For a Remington 700 Short action one piece base:

    Ken Farrell 0 MOA base:

    Front: .430"
    Rear: .550"

    Ken Farrell 20 MOA base:

    Front: .430"
    Rear: .575"

The bottom of the base is curved, but I tried to place the jaws right in the middle by eyeball.

    Thanks,

    Bob
