Saw this story this AM. I have always been a baseball fan. Not all and a seemingly classy group of players.

This guy fouls a ball that hits a little girl. He was in tears on the field about hurting a kid and apparently was shaken the rest of the game.

Perhaps it’s just made me a bit fuzzy inside to see some humanity. Like the blind autistic boy playing the piano and singing so well.
I swear I am ready to go with whatever we have to do to take our country from the lunatics and seeing these stories makes me pretty darn happy.

I hope she is ok, the only "good news" was the photo I saw of her crying her eyes out, alert, and sitting up straight in somebody's arms.

So, not knocked out, clear airway, responsive and alert.

I was at a Mets game, one of my coworkers brought his young son. A batter on the opposing team swung and missed the pitch, the bat flew out of his hands and had my coworker not caught the bat his son would have been hit in the face.

I would have bet dollars to doughnuts that there was no way a bat would be able to reach us where we were seated but it sure did.

You have to be alert at baseball games.

I saw a foul ball at an Astros game hit a woman in the side of the head. She slumped over like a rag doll immediately. Out cold. She came to a short time later, but had a hell of a mouse on the side of her head as they walked her out. I was surprised she walked out.

Folks don't realize how dangerous a baseball can be, especially at major league velocities.
The balls come off the bats 90-100 mph, sometimes as high as 120 mph.
If you figure 110 (which would be exceptional), with a missile weight of around 5 ounces, that translates to a power factor of around 352.
That exceed the major power factor for rifles (320).
The only saving grace is the diameter of the missile and the fact they slow down fairly quickly.

Years ago when I lived in Columbus OH their local hockey team has just started playing. During a game a puck flew into the crowd, struck a young child and she died from the injury. Luckily this incident had a happier ending.

You got me on that one. Hard for me to fathom.

And not all are fathers. Some are just a sperm donor that isnt invested in raising their children. The stuff I have seen over the years....... ?
