BDC Reticles and SBRs

I'm not a fan of bdc reticles. The lines rarely line up with reality. Oh, they will line up with something, and once you know what that something is you should be gtg at those ranges, with that rifle, and that ammunition. But, I prefer a mil or moa based hash or dot. Unlike the gradations in a bdc reticle, a mil is a mil, regardless of caliber, muzzle velocity, or BC.

I tend to agree here. Your statement above is exactly right. However, in a fast paced environment like 3 gun, quick range estimation or adjustments is key for the 200-300 yard zone.

I come from the PRS world (local matches) where everything is a hold on an arbitrary mrad value.

Maybe the key is to understand the yardage but per whole mil value on a mrad reticle.
