Wow the Black Hills herd must be growing. I had heard they opened a prairie season for elk a couple years back. I grew up just outside the hills and was lucky to draw a bull tag back in the 80's. Their numbers must be way up to be out on the prairie.

    Kool pics.

this has nothing to do with the black hills herd, these elk were introduced in the rosebud res. yrs ago, they got through the fence and now i get a landowner tag every yr, because we meet the quota for the total "elk use days" during the yr.

hey man, we have the same thing here, we run about 600hd of black angus, and i also manage a ranch that has 400hd, so i get to c lots of angus, but when huntin season comes around i got 10,000 private acres we own to hunt and another 10,000 that i have hunting rights on and access to lots more... believe me lookin @ elk, deer, goats, cats, and yotes, is alot more fun than them black angus!!! but them angus make alot more $$$!!!
