I've only put around 200rds through my 260 Rem with 24" Krieger MTU, and I'm running an M41 Severe Duty Brake. I posted a question on what my velocity should be a while back on the (exterior ballistics) section, and was told 2925fps. I started using this as my MV and I've shot groundhogs out to 1340yds now, and several at 1025-1150yds. My exact dope to 517yds is 8.5 moa, and at 1025 is 25.25 moa. I had never ran the 139's or the Berger 140 Hybrids through a chrono, and the gun poked 1 hole 5 shot groups at 200yds with a 139 scenar, 45.1gr H4831sc, Br2's, and Rem brass. My altitude is 2780, and this was on 75 degree days. I had no sticky bolt, ej. swipe mks, etc. so I loaded some at 47gr, and the groups were just as good if not better. I only shoot 139's 140 hybrids, and the new 136, so I loaded up 5 of the 136's w/ 47gr H4831sc at my new range. (1600+yds) and borrowed a chrony (pro chrony) and they were clocking 2950fps, with no pressure signs. It's a NF NXS scope with the Velocity1000 ret, but I use it like all my other optics now and just crank the knobs. I even checked my "below max" 45.1gr loads with the 139's and was getting 8.75moa at 517yds. Anyone ever had a 260 shoot this fast? The only nodes I've found for the 139's are 45.1-45.4gr and 47gr. Anything else the groups just open up, and the 130vld's is all I shoot with H4350.

AICS 1.5 Chassis
Precision Armament 20moa Tennalum rail, Seekins rings
NF NXS 3.5-15x50 scope, Kampfeld knob
Only thing I have noticed by reading here is the freebore of the barrel. It's much shorter than most 260 shooters here shoot. My 139's are ten thous off the lands at 2.810". Thanks

I think you have a typo in your post. I ran your numbers and you should be ~7.4moa at 517 yards. Your dope at 1025 is correct as I got 25.3moa with your numbers and guessing on the BP.

I shoot 140 Amax's @ 2750fps and my dope at 517 is 8.5moa at 1500' with 41.5gn of H4350.

Perhaps your barrel just likes them hot and fast. My barrel likes them on the slower side with the bullets I have tried.

My Amax's are .005" off and measure 2.930"..

I had the 142smks up to 2870 with 46.1gr of H4831SC but it's hell on brass... Especially the soft Remington stuff. Shot great but right on the edge with pressure.

I was 2860 with a 23" barrel and 140 amax. I was 3020 with 130vlds was an exceptionally fast benchmark barrel. Shot pretty well but very fast.

Even with good glass I'm not sure my eyes are good enough to see a groundhog at 1340 yards. Fast barrel and good shooting!

Lol, yea the 140 hybrids basically rip one in half, even at 1340yds. It sounds awesome, but it took me 16 shots with a spotter to hit that one at 1340. The sucky part is having to drive a 1/2 mile down the rd and up on the mtn to find the suckers. I've ran many, many 6mm's and a cpl 6.5's. I think I'm right on the edge of pressure, no swipe marks, but a bit flattened primer. To be honest the Rem brass has held up better than the Lapua. I bought a box of 140 core lock 140's and shot em, and while I was working on a load I used those 20 brass to find one. They have now been loaded 11 times, and trimmed twice, and my primer pockets are still better than the Lapua's after 1 shot, as the case head I can see seepage around the primer. I downloaded an app for my altitude and it says 2611.
ONE QUESTION. Why in the heck does Hogden say you can run 48gr with h4831 with the 142 smk's but only 45.7 with a 140? That makes no sense to me. Thanks for the comments guys.
BTW trust me you can see a g hog at 1600yds with 15x optic. I can see much better with my NF on 15 than my PST on 24, and all these were spotted with Bushnell 10x42 1600 ARC Bino's.

Also about the typo, the only thing that can be wrong is the chrony. I have a 5"x5" plate at 517yds, and can dial 8.5moa and hit 5 outta 5 times. My 14yo son even hits it 9 outta 10 times. But for this on Strelok, I have to make my MV 2950fps, which I know is wrong.

Okay if you say so. Been shooting 6mm's and 6.5's for years, and that's hot on a 6.5/284's arse. But I'll take it as long as I can get 2K+ rds down range. Thanks man

Pushing the 140-142 faster than 2850fps accomplishes nothing but loose primer pockets and inaccuracy, the node is right at 2850fps and good to go past 1250 yds at least
