Bed Bunkers. Anyone own one?

Re: Bed Bunkers. Anyone own one?

Somehow I don't see having to remove the mattress then lift a heavy ass steel door as "convenient" storage. And it's not even a very clever hiding spot. Everyone knows that valuables always get hidden under the mattress... But, it is reasonably out of the way if you don't have any other place to put a safe. I know I've stored a bunch of stuff (just never firearms) under the bed.

Re: Bed Bunkers. Anyone own one?

I need to show these fabricators my set up.
I got a metal rifle scabbard I made. (simular to an atv rifle scabbard, lined it with egg crate foam then welded a eyelet on the top.
Had an old lazy boy style recliner. Took the handle and metal guts and attached it to the scabbard. Drilled the handle into the outside of my bedframe rail and tucked the scabbard into the inside between the matress. (think of a IWB for your bed) attached another eyelet to line up screwed to the bed frame. (This is for a padlock when im away). Any how the bed skirt is cut for slits . The bed skirt hides the device and handle.
Something goes bump in the night, I pull the lever like a lazy boy and my shotgun comes up 45deg to my hand to draw.
When I leave the house I padlock her up. In case the nephews or neices drop by.

Looks like a good idea.

Might be ok storage, but far from "Tactical".
When you roll your wife onto the floor during an intrusion, she'll be screaming at you, giving away your location. And you won't hear the intruders advances.

Hell, I'd be faking an intrusion once a week just to do it to her!

Re: Bed Bunkers. Anyone own one?

Seems silly to have to move your mattress to get to your guns. That'd drive me nuts. If they designed one that was more like a bed with drawers, where the "safe" could be accessed from the side, I think it would be far more useful.

Anyway, why wouldn't someone have designed it that way? Guns could be slid in lengthwise across the bed (a queen mattress is 5' across, so that would work for nearly all guns).

To each their own.
