Bedding question

I have the opportunity to pick up another barreled action that will work with my current stock and DBM. My question is instead of bedding the stock is it possible/advisable to put the release agent on the stocks bedding block and let it adhere to the receiver? I would like to be able to switch between calibers without changing the headspace on my Savage.

Possible, yes, advisable, no

Not sure I understand the change calibers w/o changing headspace question, are you talking about a barrel swap? You could just bed your Savage action, pick up a different barrel and a barrel wrench and perform your own caliber/barrel swaps, thats the beautiful thing about the ugly Savage barrel nut.
