Join the contestUsed thin sheets that I had from scrapping an old boiler. Cut and peened it in the stock and foregrip. Melted and poured in the Area419 then used a a razor blade to trim it.I like it. Did you melt the lead or cut it?
Finished up and got it to 19#!!!Sweet. Let’s see the whole rifle post ballasting.
I thought about that but had everything alread for the way I did it.You could get it heavier. I'm assuming that lead isn't that dense. I used shotgun shot and siliconed over the forend slots so it didn't fall out. I got mine to 24lb with a Burris xtr2 on it
I suspect your scale could be wrong as wellYou could get it heavier. I'm assuming that lead isn't that dense. I used shotgun shot and siliconed over the forend slots so it didn't fall out. I got mine to 24lb with a Burris xtr2 on it
I forgot about the barrel difference mine was 24 inch heavy barrel model. Atlas 5h. T3 terminator brake. Scales definately weren't wrong as they are checked and calibrated every 2 years. I used number 12 shot so there wouldn't be much space between ballsI suspect your scale could be wrong as well. I doubt lead shot is almost twice as dense. What length barrel, supressor and bipod do you have?
I have a 22" barrel, Surfire socom 7.62, and a magpul bipod.
Cut and peened it in the stock and foregrip. Melted and poured in the Area419 then used a a razor blade to trim it. Didn't warp the Arca rail when pouring in the molten lead.It did not warp/damage anything when pouring the lead?
Thanks!!!I do love diy projects . you could get more weight than lead by using cold rolled steel not sure of the availability of it in your area but it is heavier but less malleable looks great either way and I hope it works like you want it to . hats of to you sir for finding your own way to do what you want .
Did you make the shim or buy?
Made it with portable, bench grinder, drill and file!Did you make the shim or buy?
