Good question. I would also like to know what you carry your gear in and why you chose what you use.
I personally carry

Spot Scope
Range finder
Kestrel Link
Eye Pro
Hearing Pro
DOPE/date book
A burner smart phone that I use for my Apps
Medium pair of BiNos
A allen key set
Small cleaning kit

I like to keep use the extra phone cause its an andriod and I can switch batteries.
The Allen key have many uses in the field.

I've started emptying out my bag. I used to have all kinds of gadgets. I'm now down to a kestrel, ammo binder, 2 spare mags, multi tool, Allen set, extra chamber flag, a shemagh (for hot sunny days), a gamechanger, ear pro, eye pro. That's it....

A beginners gear bag I would recommend:
Ammo
Small tool kit
Leatherman
Ear protection
Eye protection
Small pad pencil
Good ballistics app for your phone
Bipod
Rear bags

Add other stuff as you grow

I always carry a lenspen.

I recently started carrying a 5 piece cleaning rod. Haven’t had to use it yet, but I would hate to not be able to finish a match, or have to make a mile hike back to my truck to unfuck my rifle because I didn’t have it.

I’ve used my sectional proshot cleaning rod in field matches, once when a sling flushcup came out of a defective AI and my barrel barreled 10” in the mud, several times when people in your squad get stuck brass, several case head separations and one fall.

Worth every ounce
