Say you're the average poor person who cant afford a McMillan or other high grade stock.

Would these work ok for a regular Rem 700 with match barrel installed?

Not looking for anything crazy, just a decent replacement for the factory VLS stock.

These are great stocks for the price point. The bedding block makes it real sturdy and accurate. For $200 you can't go wrong. If weight isn't an issue, the Choate Tactical is good as well.

I love mine, dropped right in decent contact with aluminum bedding, good feel, best of all good for a budget type of person. You can always bed it yourself and not feel bad if the jobs not perfect as well.

Re: Bell and Carlson Medalist rifle stocks...any good?

ive been researching too im thinking about the a5 but not until i can save a little money so maybe after the holidays. the best prices ive found so far is stockystocks

Re: Bell and Carlson Medalist rifle stocks...any good?

Answer is YES. I just got the A-3. It sure beats the Hogue Stock that came with the SPS Tactical. The only problem I have is that the LOP is 14 inches, which is just a tad long for me but it might be perfect for someone else.

Cant add much, but you might need to finish inletting for a perfect fit. Mine was for my Savage, and the tang needed to be floated, no worries on the Remington. Great stock, nice high comb, sucks up recoil, love mine!

Re: Bell and Carlson Medalist rifle stocks...any good?

I have nothing bad to say about B&C, only good. I have been using one for about 2 years now and they are great stocks for the price. Very sturdy stock and a very stable platform for the action. You may still benefit from bedding the action, though I have not felt the need to do this yet. The reason I went to one was I would shoot with the factory stock and may shoot great one say and terrible the next with basically no change in conditions of any significance. The B&C stock basically made each trip to the range consistent. I would not hesitate to buy another.

Red Hawk Rifles has the best prices. They are on GunBroker. Just search the B&C stock and you'll find them. I just bought the A5 for $375 from them and they have A2's for only $198. Just call them to save paying GB fees. They are very nice and easy to work with.

balls2elwall, I see your in Tampa too, do you ever make it down to Manatee to shoot?

Re: Bell and Carlson Medalist rifle stocks...any good?

I was having serious issues at the range with my 700 aac when I first got it. Me not being a great shot is a problem all in its self, but a stock so flimsy as the factory hogue was just made my problems worse. Really wanted a HS but settled on a bell and carlson medalist. All I can say is money well spent. I will not hesitate to buy another for any future rifle projects.

Re: Bell and Carlson Medalist rifle stocks...any good?

My B&C varmint/tactical just arrived for my 700sps along with wyatts bottom metal. Everything lined up really nice except the factory front receiver bolt is a touch too long and contacts the underside of the bolt. As a quick fix I just put a washer between the bottom metal and the stock - this will work for now until I have time to shorten the screw. The only problem is it increases the gap between the top of the mag and the feed ramp.

Even with this gap it feeds and ejects better than stock (my factory sps was finicky - sometimes it wouldn't pick up a round and other times it would jam up on the feed ramp).

Although I haven't shot it yet, it feels great and I am definately happy with it.

Re: Bell and Carlson Medalist rifle stocks...any good?

I got a smoking deal on mine and got it as a place keeper until I get to try out different stocks before I spend the big bucks on it. So far it has been great. The A5 medalist is a bit on the heavy side though but that's fine by me.

Love the A5. I just got it to the range today. Gotta do more load development but the stock is very solid and the adjustability is great. Awesome stock for the price

PM me when you get a chance. No matter what your shooting it's worth heading down to Manatee to try out a little distance. Look forward to hearing from you
