Bell & Carlson adjustable Remington 700 SA - Worth trying?

No experience with B&C stocks but you would probably be better off with the KRG Bravo or another option could be the Grayboe Ridgeback which is about to be released in two days. I have a Grayboe renegade stock on my Rem 700 and it fit up pretty well and has a great feel to it. When the Ridgeback is released, I would look into buying from Red Hawk Rifles, they usually have a good deal on them paired with the Mesa Precision Arms DBM which is pretty nice as well.

They are a good stock, but the forend is blocky and it is quite heavy.
If you want to go with a DBM, you will need to buy it separately and have the stock modified.
You can have the stock shipped to CDI and they will inlet it for you, very reasonable price.
His bottom metal is good to go.

If you can do without the LOP adjustment, you may want to consider this:

Otherwise, the KRG or XLR chassis system gets you in the DBM game from the get go.

I'd personally go Bravo.
Bravo - $350 ($430 if you want W3 backbone) and it's ready to go.
B&C - $520 + bottom metal + inletting work if you want dbm.

I'm in Denmark, so unfortunately none of the prices reflect my situation.

I've been offered a used B&C for about 420 USD. Though as mentioned above, I'd need a new bottom metal if I wanted to run it with magazines (about 170 USD plus inletting).

I can get a new Bravo for about 600 USD delivered.

It would be worth saving for a greyboe, or xlr envy. I used a b&c for a few years and it served me well, but the difference was very noticeable when I upgraded. If you save more money and buy a better product now, you'll save money later.

I have the same stock fdxrider has (B&C Target/Competition with adjustable cheek) and it is an excellent stock.

I have a Grayboe Renegade and it's exactly like the McMillian A5. It's very comfortable but it's heavy at almost 4lbs if that matters to you. Also the comb is a little low so if your running your scope on mediums or highs, you'll need a cheek riser. But it's a very nice stock and the craftsmanship is impeccable. Also, the DBM is cut for a M5 inlet. I didn't have to do anything to my inlet, it was drop in and fit perfectly.

Nothing wrong with a BC. I think they are a good value and look great.

I agree. For me, an adjustable comb is a MUST with any rifle that has a canted scope base. The fact that the B&C comes standard with one integrated into the stock is a huge plus.

Having said that, I recommend to the OP to spend whatever it takes to get a KRG Bravo. By the time he buys and installs a DBM in the B&C, he's equalled what the KRG would cost and would still be behind in resale value.

Very true.
