hi guys
i need opinions
i am trying to decide what stock to use for my next build
i would like mcmillan a5 or b&c medalist
what are your opinions on both i know everyone seems to be using mcmillan but what is the deal with b&c
i was looking around @ cabela's and they har one of the remington .308 with B&c stock on it and i REALLY liked the feel of the stock

so lets see what you have to say

thanks

Re: bell & carlson vs mcmillan

I was just in this predicament. I decided to get the B&C A5 because I like the amount of adjustability it offers for under $400. I will tell you though, whether you get the Mcmillan or B&C, you will want to bed it. I just used some Marine Tex on mine and it did great. The Mcmillan has the molded in colors which is a huge plus, but it all depends what you want to do with your rifle. If the B&C fits you then it might be the stock for you.

Re: bell & carlson vs mcmillan

Leaving the price out of the equation I would do McM or Manners every time. If price is a factor then shoot what you have and save for the McM or Manners

I got 2 cheaper stocks before I got a McM and now that is the only route I'm going for my serious rifles. The sentinal is next on the list. I'm thinking of getting my dad a HS precision for his sps as I feel they are good stocks for the money. He doesn't shoot much either. But like they all say for your predicament. Buy once Cry once.

Re: bell & carlson vs mcmillan

I liked the feel of my B&C better than my mcmillan at first but the after awhile I stuck with the mcmillan. Even went and bought a second. IMO I think you would like either stock. Get the B&C if youll be hunting with it.

Re: bell & carlson vs mcmillan

this is how i feel about it
i like the feel of b&c
that is why i'm on the fence

Re: bell & carlson vs mcmillan

the mcm or manners is far better in every way than b,c if you leave price out . and yes i have handled/ shot them all . if you dont like the feel of the mcm try a different model , or a manners

Like comparing a Ford Pinto to a Lambhorghini in my opinion.

Re: bell & carlson vs mcmillan

macs are much better quality than the BC's, though BC has come a long way emulating much of what HS Precision has put out the door. BC ain't quite HS for quality, and HS has it's own issues as well as the fact they don't offer the variety of Macs. But a stock is a tool, if the tool fits use it.

I think you answered your own question right there.

Yeah, there's a lot of teeny tiny ergonomic or just plain idiosyncratic issues peeps have with various stocks that after being this long in the game, I'm like if it fits you well that is the most important factor. BC ain't as low end as it once was, and if you end up not liking it, there's another stock that will fit the action.

Re: bell & carlson vs mcmillan

I just got my firt McMillan a couple of monthes ago and they are well worth the money. I was on the fence between the two but I don't regret spending the extra cash for the Mcmillan.
