Does anyone know what the actual weight of the Bell & Carlson light tactical stock is? I found that there tactical stocks weigh between 2.5-3.0lbs but I didn't know if that included the "light tactical stock". I'm looking to get one of these to put on a Remington 700 vtr 308 for both target shooting and hunting and would like to keep the weight down as much as possible, but still have a nice stock for target shooting as well.

Re: Bell & Carslon Light Tactical Stock Weight?

Do you like the light tactical? I like the looks of it, but need one in long action. they only offer it in short action.

Am considering the B&C A2 version instead. Don't know if I like the flat forend or "extended" finger grooves along the forend either. Am buying it for the vertical pistol grip (there are not that many out there) and figure I can "round" the squared surfaces if I choose.

I also am not going with the fully adjustable for the weight issue.

I currently have a Hogue with full length bedding block on another rifle. Great stock, but just doesn't feel right in the pistol grip area. "flows back" and isn't as comfortable as a more vertical grip.

Re: Bell & Carslon Light Tactical Stock Weight?

I have a Light Tactical on my .308 and I liked it enough that I acquired another for my .300WM build.

There are some Long Action Light Tacticals out there, but they were not a production run. You may want to contact B&C directly and tell them you are interested. I don't know if they are planning on a production run anytime soon.

FWIW: Just got one of these stocks and LOVE IT! I have ACIS, McMillian and HS Precision on other guns, but have to say that this stock is right up there as far as feel, looks, and function.

I recently purchased an A2 for a LA from Red Hawk Rifles, very nice guys btw, and I am very pleased with the stock. This is my first long range .308 build so I don't have a lot for comparison but I don't find the stock all that heavy. It did require a bit of sanding in the receiver area to remove some of the carbalite material so the receiver would make good contact with the aluminum beading blocks. Red Hawk had the best price I could find and they gave me a few bucks off their gunbroker price so give them a call if you are interested.
