Benchrest Primers

Sorry I listed this in another forum, but do you guys think benchrest primers are worth it?

My Chrono tells me the Plano primers do the exact same thing, and cost less.

If you have a small case of good powder like a 6PPC they are wonderful. I shoot standard primers in my benchrest rifles. They have a very soft flame when compared to other primers.

they make a lot of difference in my loads. Fed 205M are my standard primer. I use some CCI 450's in my dasher though. Lee

From what I hear the Wolf SRM primers are excellent for consistency for AR-reloading.

I had average ES with 46gr of Varget behind a 155 scenar of 15fps (3x 5 shot string avg) with Fed 210s and avg of 9fps with CCI BR2s. So yes, I saw a slight improvement with BR2s. FWIW I buy BR2s almost exclusively for .308 and will probably continue with other calibers because a more consistent primer (if hard to measure) should not hurt your results.

but what was your spreads difference between CCI200 and BR2, you just gave a Apples to Watermelon comparison

I tried Wolf SRs in my XTC loads. As good as CCI BRs and better than Fed 205 match. For about 40 percent less, I'm going with Wolf. YMMV.
