ok well im looking at bergara for my remington 700. ive tried reading reviews on the hide but the only one i found turned into a giant argument on american made vs foreign. so has anyone ever owned or shot one of these and have any feed back as to how accurate it is? please no arguments just real advice.

Re: bergara barrels?

At one time there was a group buy on them here, but after seeing the limited twist rates offered I passed on the deal. I have no feedback on how they shoot.

Re: bergara barrels?

I was just wondering the same thing yesterday, apparently, they contacted a US barrel maker, like shillen, to setup the factory, he told them most of his secret on how to make a great barrel.
that's all i know.

Re: bergara barrels?

My stepdad put one on his Thompson Center ML, and it shot lights out!! He was so impressed that he tried another in .308, but it wouldn't group for beans. Returned it, put up with their run arround for a few months, took delivery of a 30-06 replacement cause they were out of .308, chamber was to tight but grouped great. Returned it, and finally recieved a .308 without issues.
I personnaly would pass on the Bergara, but when there right, they shoot!

Re: bergara barrels?

I ran some tests on a couple and was amazed at the accuracy! I, personally, highly reccomend these barrels. I shot bullets ranging from 110gr to 175gr and they all performed quite well from both 26" and 18" lengths. I could go on, but I'll let the photos do the talking.

I don"t recall how the 168gr SMK Federal GM Match performed and couldn't find the data. However, the worst group (4 rounds) was 155gr SMK Palma load ES: .650"V X .200"H (had 3 touching, dropped 1 out the bottom)

Just my 2 cents, but for the cost and considering I did the install at home I'm a happy dude.
