OK, I’ve run the gamut from old school molle pouches with flaps, up to custom kydex mag holders but over the past couple years have gotten spoiled by some of the high-speed cool kid stuff while shooting my 9mm guns. My favorite setup right now is the ARC hard-sided pouches from HRT; they’re simply sublime with my various Glock, Sig, and especially my Alien 17-round mags:

Perfect balance between strong retention with the little internal plastic “spring” hump that presses against the side of the mag, while still allowing super smooth snag-free draws. Hard to describe how good this pouch feels when doing reloads…like buttah!

However, I’m back to shooting a lot more .45ACP again, and while the mag is about the same height, those grommets holding the stiff material of the pouch together catch on the feed lips of the G21 mag, and the mag itself is simply too fat to fit properly:

And while I can jam the mag down in there with some effort, it’s almost impossible to do a one-hand draw; it’s far too tightly captured by the pouch for anything less than a two-handed pull; one hand to hold the mag, and the other to stabilize the pouch and belt:

I’ve reached out to HRT asking if they’ll consider doing a run of pouches for .45ACP and some of the larger 10mm mags, but not holding my breath. I could also use a simple elastic mag pouch, and have done so in the past, but it’s just not the same.

    I’m spoiled now.

In the meantime, any recommendations for a mag pouch that delivers similar performance but will fit those fat G21 mags? HRT has set the bar extremely high with those ARC mag pouches, so I don’t think I can ever go back to a “lesser” pouch for my “fun times at the pistol range” belts and load outs! LoL

I like everything I've got from JM Custom Kydex, but I'm strictly 9mm, no 10 or 45 sized. Holsters and mag pouches that are molded nicely but very slick on the draw. Don't know why -- materials or process? I have stuff from T1C, C&G, JMCK, Vedder, and my competition mag pouches are Black Scorpion. The JMCK work best, better than the OWB comp belt ones.

Copy, and thanks… yeah, I have a few types of Kydex mag holders for my G21 and G30 (use G21 mags with a sleeve with that gun) that work well, but really like that HRT system. Hoping to find something even half as good as the way that mag pouch feels on the draw, but that will also fit my G21 mags.

After tens of minutes of research, I went ahead and ordered a couple Esstac Single Pistol KYWI Pouches:

They state that it fits Glock .45 double-stack mags with the regular Glock insert, so we’ll see. I also went ahead and ordered a couple High Speed Gear Taco Molle pistol pouches too:

Hope one of these fits the bill… Like I said, I’ve gotten spoiled by the level of usability and performance from today’s kit that’s geared towards competitive shooting…almost all centered on 9mm offerings.

Would love to find something that performs as well for my .45 ACP Tupperware guns too!
