Best 7x50 & 10x50 binocular.

Re: Best 7x50 & 10x50 binocular.

7x50? Fujinon FMTRC-SX!

If you are not concerned with weight, these cannot be beat.

At the time, I was doing quite a bit of offshore and near-coastal sailing and lake racing. Research kept pointing to the Fujinon for the unsurpassed reduced light and night qualities, and the rugged construction. These were designed for marine use, rubber armored, and are heavy (about 3.5 lbs).

I originally had a pair of MTRC-SX for a few years. In the late 80s, the "F" (Flat Field - larger diopter for wearing glasses) model appeared. I sold the MTRC and got the FMTRC-SX and have not regretted it. The integral compass has been quite useful in the field, and they have a Mil based stadia.

It's always interesting after the evening hunt when we gather after dinner. Guys start dragging their Zeiss, Leica, and Swarovski binocs out to check this one feeder that we don't hunt. They are all amazed after taking a peek through this glass in the dark - I still am.

I'll agree with Kevin on the Fuji's (7x). Had a pair, sold them and realized my mistake so now own another pair. No better 7x50's out there.

10x50 will net different findings. Here you're more likely to hear a lot of favorites, more so than the "best". I like the Swarovisions for high end. Fujinon makes a version of the FMTR-SX in 10x. Same package higher magf.. Good stuff right there.

edit: Yeah, I'll concede to the Zeiss even without looking through them. (Gotta have faith).

Fujinon M22 are really a super binocular, not too lightweight but great for extended observation use. Have Zeiss 10x42 also and they are more compact, plus have the Zeiss contrast & crispness which no other maker matches.

I like Fujinon. Also have one of their 60mm spotting scopes and find it much better than the Kowa 612 had previously, especially for clarity in shadows and without loss at higher powers using the 30-60x zoom eyepiece.
