I am building this gun as a target gun so I am not concerned about weight. I will be installing a break as well. I see guys that say stay around 26-27" and others 30" or more. What do you guys think?

Mine has a 27" barrel. That's plenty long for me. I can hump it just about anywhere. It gives me enough velocity.

If you shooting off the bench, then perhaps the BR folks would say longer.

My first 338LM had a 30" barrel + brake so it was rather cumbersome and I found myself not really enjoying it due to its OAL. My current 338 is an SRS with a 26" barrel. Both rifles performed equally well out to 1 mile but I cant stress how nice the shorter package is and how much I enjoy shooting it....so much so that I bought a second so I can have dedicated platforms and not have to swap barrels.
