I'm interested in adding a 300 win. mag. to move out in range past a 308. What would you recommend? Personal experience please.
I'm a fan of Rem.700. I'm not a fan of the latest new mouse trap with bell and whistles. Just a solid platform to build on.

Remington 700 5r milspec sub moa out to 600 yards so far many .5-.6 moa groups at 100. I'm shooting handloads with berger 168 grain vld .060 off the lands. I have not gone farther than 600 yet but I don't know why it would disappoint out there as good as it shoots to 600.

For Remington, in a factory rifle to build on...check out the Sendero/Sendero SF II. Solid HS stock, 26" medium/heavy contour barrel (around 0.82 or so at the muzzle), 1:10 Twist. They are excellent rifles capable of sub-MOA accuracy out of the box with the right ammo/shooter. Mine loves everything from Federal/BH in terms of 190gr match ammo, and it really loves my 210gr SMK reloads!!

I think that Remington has discontinued the standard Sendero (non-fluted, matte finish, etc.). The original Sendero SF was a stainless, fluted model. The new SF II is a deep-fluted, contrasting flute finish stainless model. All are excellent shooters (again...with the right ammo/shooter/etc.).
