As you’ve said- there are a lot of options.
I would choose one that works with AICS magazines as this is currently the industry standard. Badger Ordnance M5 is the original. Surgeon’s model is a unique variation. Seekins uses a button instead of a lever. CDI offers a more affordable version. There are also many custom shops offering their own versions for use with the AICS.
All are variations on the same theme. Budget (in most cases this should include your smith’s install fee) and aesthetic appeal will be the deciding factor. Look them up and start comparing.
Cheaper options include proprietary systems such as those offered by HS Precision and Wyatt's Outdoors. The problem with these systems is that it can be difficult to find spare magazines on the market. You also won’t be able to switch with friends at matches.
