Gunsmithing Best coating for stainless barrel??

I have two Weatherby's with stainless barrels that have scuffs on them.

Is there a way to get the matte finish back or do I need to have them painted with a stainless colored finish?

Have them media blasted matte--no coating needed.

Is this something I could do myself? I have 120 grit aluminum oxide. I wasn't sure if it was that simple.
