Looking at buying a used drop in replacement stock for my new 700 sps varmint 308. I'm looking at the h-s precision pss stock, but am still looking at mcmillan and bell and carlson w/ the full aluminumm bedding block. Rifle will be used for long distance paper shooting and predator hunting. Should I just get it fully glass bedded or are these drop in stocks w. bedding blocks just as good?

Re: Best drop in stocks

I have an AICS and love it. Its got some weight to it tho.

I also have an HS stock... nice stock too. Even tho its got the alloy bedding block id still want to bed it just to make sure the action isnt even mildly stressed.

ummm besides that you got

-manners
-mcmillan
-B&C
-Boyds
-Stockys
-Choate
-Roedale

Im sure theres more

Re: Best drop in stocks

Agreed with vman. I use a Choate Tactical. It has the aluminum bedding blocks but I skim bed it just be sure. It doesn't look like the rails were stressing the action now that it's bedded but it's better to be safe for the small price of bedding compound.
