Im new to the long distance shooting world and i've spend the last two years researching and funding my 7mm wsm rifle i just finished building and now im looking at scopes. I know i want a FFP scope in roughly the 6-20 power range and i am limited to spending around $800-$1000 on the scope and wanted some feed back on the best scope for the money?

Re: best ffp scope for the money

to be honest i just started looking at the ffp scopes, seeing how i just learned about there benefits. I relize now im going to have to raise my price range. lets say i pulled out the old CC and was looking to spend around 2000-2500 on a new or used FFP scope.. any preferences? Im in no hurry and plan on researching this for quite a while, i like to buy once and buy right.

Yes, you can buy a great USO, Premier, S&B or NF FFP scope USED. Get more for your money by getting a used one in like-new condition. There are plenty on SH in the Optics & Accessories for Sale section.

i don't know what your intended use is......but don't get wrapped around the axle on the latest go-fast zoom-zoom.......find something you can be good with and see the targets with and go forth and prosper .

In that range the world is open to you......

Re: best ffp scope for the money

I agree with bolt ripper, I picked up a USO SN3 and it was much more scope than I needed. So I sold it and I have been waiting for something in that 700.00-1000.00 range in FFP MIL/MIL. That is the hardest trying to find MIL/MIL stuff.

You may want to jump on a Falcon for 400-500 its FFP MIL/MIL Gets a lot of good reviews. Something to get your feet wet and you can get almost all your money back out of them.

I probably would have jumped on the new super sniper but its only a 3-9x. Hopefully they come out with a little more X then they would really have the market covered.

Re: best ffp scope for the money

i was in sacramento, ca for a while and got to know a local shooter who got me turned onto snipers hide and he raved about the ior snipers hide edition scope, i got to play with his and i really like the mp-8 reticle! i originally planned on just buying that scope when the time was right but its no where to be found. i looked up Scott at liberty optics and he is out of them. is the only difference between the snipers hide edition 3-18x42 and the regular 3-18x42 the illumination?

Hey all,

First post here, but been a reader for a while.

I recently bought a new Premier Heritage 3-15X50 DT GENII XR. I haven't had a chance to mount it but took it to the range yesterday to try it out vis-a-vis glass etc. Very happy. Give LibertyOptics gave me a decent price too.
