Getting a 870 wingmaster Getting the barrel and receiver cerakoted what is the best rust coatings for the internals and inside of the barrel? I'm leaning towards getting the internals nitrideed but do not know if that is a thing for the inside of the barrel.

Rust "coatings". You mean something to spray in there to keep it from rusting. A rust preventative and not an actual coating like cerakote or even chrome plating, right?

If so, almost anything will do. I've used Birchwood Casey Barricade on my shotguns for decades with good success.

Do understand, that the first time you pull the trigger, that rust preventative is gone and would need to be reapplied.

Lots of different products I’m sure. This is what was recommended to me and what I started using. This combined with a golden rod in the case .

Automatic transmission fluid! ;)

I shot a shotgun match in the rain one time, and after the match I came to realize I had no oil of any kind with me. Facing a minimum 3 1/2 hour ride home I used the only thing I had, a liberal application of automatic transmission fluid. Worked well no rust, and the gun only stunk for about six plus months. lmao

I’d use something like corrosion X, that’ll only stink for like a week or two.
