Hello,

I apologize that I have to ask this question. I like to be able to find the information on my own and not have to bug anyone, but I've searched and searched this forum along with other places online and I can't seem to find a good answer to my question.

I figured this would be the best place to ask. So here goes:

I just joined the DPMS LRT-SASS Club. My father had one and I really liked the way it shot. He had a Leupold Mark 4 on it and that is just out of my price range. I bought a Burris Eliminator Laserscope to go with it. If you check out the link and scroll down to the bottom where it shows the mounting picture, it requires a picatinny mount. I don't like the low profile and I want it high enough to clear the flip up rear sight.

I made the mistake and bought two Burris 1/2" Picatinny Risers for it, thinking its what I needed. I later found out that those risers are not compatible with my rifle. I cannot slide on a riser, it has to clamp on, which I believe to be called "Quick Detach", I'm not for certain. (Please excuse the ignorance as I'm a newbie to the AR world)

I talked to DPMS and they recommended two ADM 17s QD risers in which they said will work.

I found a You Tube Video that has a similar setup as mine with the Burris Eliminator Scope, but I can't tell what kind of riser he has on it.

With my limited knowledge on the subject, the best I could come up with is a YMH 227a 1/2" riser.

However, will a 1/2" rise be enough to clear the rear sight? Which one of these do you guys recommend or is there another suggestion I need to consider?

Thanks for any replies, its truly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with you particular setup, but here is what I have figured out.

I bought a DPMS LR-260 and my Nightforce 3.5-15x50mm in badger medium height rings would not fit/mount (front of scope would hit the handguard). I went with the Badger 22MOA riser (http://www.triadtactical.com/Badger-AR-Riser-Rail-22MOA.html) and now it fits fine. It's a 1/2" riser.

Good luck. Try searching for +Rail +Riser on the forum here. There are a few posts out there. Make sure to set the default date to be more than a week or two.

Re: Best Picatinny Riser for DPMS LRT-SASS

What do you think is the reason for the $50 difference in price between the Badger you recommended and the Yankee Hill Riser?

Does the Badger hold its zero better or will the Yankee Hill do just fine for the price you think?

Re: Best Picatinny Riser for DPMS LRT-SASS

I am running the Yankee hill 5-1/4 rail riser extender(exactly like in your link) and could not be happier. It allows me to use low rings and swap my scopes back and forth between my bolts and my semi autos.

***you will likely need higher rings to clear the fold down sights if that is what you are trying to do. Mine will not clear a fold down matech rear sight with the YH riser and low XTR rings. This is not a big deal to me because I doubt my optic will ever fail and if it does It will probably get another optic!

Sandbogg, thanks for your reply. Do they make the same riser in 3/4 or 1 inch?

My problem is that I cannot use rings with the scope I have. It directly connects to the rail.

Some say Badger is overpriced, I won't get into that discussion here. I can only comment on my experiences with Badger, and they all have been great. I'm not suggesting that YHM doesn't make a good product; I believe they do, but I havent had a chance to try any.

Why did I buy the Badger? Well, I didn't know about the YHM to be honest... I might have tried that.

Re: Best Picatinny Riser for DPMS LRT-SASS

If I could just figure out what riser is being used in the You tube video link I posted, I'd be set.

Any experts out there with good eyes? It looks like a Yankee Hill, but I'm not for sure of that or the model.

Based on the thumb screws and the overall appearance (in what is admittedly a poor quality video), I would venture a guess that the mount pictured is the Weaver Tactical Riser seen here:

Good luck!!

HA! ORD beat me to it!

Check out the "Mounts, Rings and Bases" section on SWFA (link below)

ARMS makes several mounts that would likely suit your needs.

The ARMS #5 will get you 3/4" of rise.

If you plan on detaching the scope frequently I would probably recommend the #63 throw lever mount for a little more $.

http://swfa.com/ARMS-Bases-C1830.aspx?s=Name%20ASC&p=2

Those Weaver mounts are available from SWFA as well. Look around and Im sure you'll find something that will work for you.

Enjoy.
