Best scope base with #8-40 cap screws?

    I promise I searched, but can’t find the specific info I need… Looking for a steel scope base, zero or 20 MOA max, with integrated recoil lug for my Rem 700 LA that’s been trued, and has the mounting holes opened up to take #8-40 screws.

    I like the Nightforce and Spuhr rails, but can’t find anything re: whether or not they can take #8 screws without redrilling them.

    Thought the Badger Ordnance would work, but can’t seem to find the correct one in stock anywhere.

    Closest I can find is the Area 419 that has both #6 and #8 screw’s included. This one:

    … in fact that one looks like the best deal for the money based on my limited knowledge, but it’s aluminum. I know Area 419 has a solid rep for quality work, but know nothing about their scope bases.

    GTG, or is there something else I should be looking at?
     
    Spuhr definitely won’t take #8 screws, it specifically says this on the rail product description on their website. Area 419 are a good option, I have one on a Bergara Premier action which takes #8 screws, no need to be put off by it being aluminium.
     
    Call Near Manufacturing and he’ll make one for you. I consider them the best scope bases around. Integrated recoil lug. Ovalized holes.

    EGW HD bases come with both #6 & #8 screws in the package. 👍🏼 Highly recommend the EGW HD bases. I use them on everything.
